hoho, Jambo means hello in Swihili. ho ho ..
anyway..got out of town early this week and we might visit some ppl in the weekends.
Have been visiting quite a lot in the last few days..on saturday we have been yo a traditional rural african family home and tour around the area...there we saw a monkey which was in white and black.and helped preparing lunch is a very smoky kitchn..sunday we went to the church and the home of a principal of a primaryschool who is nearby..he works closly with the volunteer in the child home so it's good to know him and on monday we went to a local medicial clinic to take a sick girl to the doctor.she got typloid fever which is highly contagious ..and i am glad that i took my vaccination properly before coming..we are keeping an eye to see if there is an outbreak in the home but it is hard to tell coz the symptoms is similar to that of a cold and everyone in the home seems to have at least a running nose..(including me.hohoho. i am intergrating well into the home)
yesterday was an unfortunate day T_T i went all the way to the river to fetch water to wash my clothes but when i was half way through, a cow came and drank the bucket of water i was using and i had to go all the way back to the river to fetch water for the second time to finish washing clothes T_T T_T T_T T_T ...it was very very tiring (and yes.chicken and cow runs everywhere here and i just chased a chicked out of the room this morning..)
at the same time we are startin this project of talking to the kids one by one and writing down their stories and thoughts so that we can also use this chance to know them in deep. been also cooridinating to improve the situation of the home and meeting different key ppl. ho ho
there was a group of visitors who came to the home on sunday to spend a night and bring in sponsors ( and among them. there was tsui lap chi's son..wicked...he looks like his father thou...) and it sort of stir up a sea of thoughts in me....i am not sure how I feel towards this sort of relationship between the needy and the one who is helping and the method of helping...it's always good to help ppl but what is te best way to do so? i dun feel very comfortble seeing those "richer' ppl bringing in lots of material goods and stuffs to sponsor the kid and in return the kids make speeches of gratitude and the visitors seems to think there way of doing things is best for the kids and is helping a great deal to improve the situation...material assistance is necessary but to what extend should we do so and is this the best way to improve the condition in africa? and then i am thinking the value of my existence here and what should i do to maxmize the impact to myself and to others.
yeeeeeeep. that's all for now :0
i can't reply the emails one by one coz internet connection is damn slow here..but thank you for writing to me :)...everything is slow here..we just spent 2 hours in the postal office trying to retrieve a parcel and another 1.5 hour in the bank to open bank account for the kids...
